Author Guidelines
In the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI), original books are published. Books based on at least two years'/seasons' results are encouraged to submit. The manuscript, addressed to the Chief Editor, Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI), and Director General, Bangladesh Rice Research Institute, Gazipur-1701, should submit in triplicate.
The manuscript should be type written in a double space throughout on one side only of A4 size quality paper with 3cm top and left margins, and 2.5 cm right and bottom margins. A manuscript submitted to the Bangladesh Rice Journal must not have been published in or accepted for publication by any other journal.
Citations: Citations should include author(s) and year of publication. Examples for: Mustafi and Deb (2002) stated that disease and pest resistant T. Arnan varieties are popular in wet season in Bangladesh. However, farmers utilize imbalanced fertilizer dose for this crop (Biswas et al, 2001; Shah, 2003). According to Islam et al (2001), T. Arnan crop may suffer by 20-day drought once in three years.
Table: Prepare tables with the feature of table in your word processor; do not use tabs, spaces, or graphics boxes. Number tables consecutively. Table heads should be brief but complete and self-contained in bold letter.
Figure: Figure should be 7.5 cm or 15 cm wide, clearly visible and camera ready during final submission of the manuscript. Font size should be 8 points Times New Roman. Measuring unit of Y-axis should be placed on the top. A figure caption should be brief, but sufficiently detailed to tell its own story and should be placed separately below the figure. Identify curves or symbols in a legend within the figure itself, not in the caption. Photographic illustrations are acceptable only if they are very essential and of high quality.
Data presentation: Values in tables and in the text of a manuscript should include as few digits as possible. Round up more than two digits after the decimal point. Metric units should be used (see examples below). Analysis of variance (ANOVA) tables are not required. Tables should be as concise as possible as and no larger than the print area (20 x 15cm) of journal page. Avoid unnecessary abbreviation in box heading and use as few lines as possible.
Style
-
Generally, the writing should be concise, readable and should conform to the style of the latest issue of the journal. A manuscript should include ABSTRACT, INTRODUCTION, MATERIALS AND METHODS, RESULTS, DISCUSSION, CONCLUSION, ACKNOWLEDGEMENT (optional) and REFERENCES. Don't use bold type face. Results and Discussion may be combined. ABSTRACT sub-heading is centered but others are to be adjusted to the left side. Use of ie, etc and viz should be without dot as shown here.
-
Tables and figures should be placed in sequence separately after references.
-
Follow the British/US system of spelling.
Revision and final submission
The authors are responsible for revising the article as suggested by the reviewer(s) and over viewer. Soft copy of the manuscript in MS word Times New Roman, figures in Excel and photographs in Photoshop should be provided along with hard copy during final submission. Failure to accomplish every requirement of the BRJ will delay publication of submitted article in time.
